MORE THAN ‘JUST A GAME’

Rule 11 - No person except the captains shall be permitted to approach or
to speak with the umpire, scorers or players, during the progress of the
game, unless by special request of the umpire.
Rule 12 - No person shall be permitted to act as umpire or scorer in any
match unless he be a member of a club governed by these rules.
Rule 13 - Whenever a match game shall have been determined upon
between two clubs, play shall be called at the exact hour appointed, and
should either party fail to produce their players within thirty minutes,
thereafter, the club so failing shall admit a defeat, and the game shall be
            considered as won, and as such counted in the list of matches played;
unless the delinquent club fail to play on account of the recent death of
one of its members, and sufficient time has not elapsed to enable them to
give their opponents due notice before arriving at the place of play.
Rule 14 - A player in delivering a ball must not touch or step over the
line upon the alley. All pins made on a ball by a player so doing shall
not count. The pins so knocked down must be again replaced in the
same position as they were before the ball was rolled. All foul balls shall
            count as balls rolled.
Rule 15 - Should the first ball delivered on a full frame leave the alley
before reaching the pins, the pins, if any made on such ball, shall not
count, but must be set up again, the ball to count as a ball rolled. After
the first ball on each frame, all pins knocked down from the effect of the
ball rolled by the player shall count to his credit.
Rule 16 - No lofting or throwing balls upon the alley will be allowed.
            The ball must be rolled.
Rule 17 - In all match games two persons shall be chosen, one by each
captain, who shall take their position at the head of the alleys, and see
that the pins are properly set up and that no one interferes with them in
any way until the player is through rolling. They will immediately report
to the captains any irregularities that they may notice during the progress
            of the game.
